As "wineries" in Rioja, Priorat and Bierzo, Alvaro Palacios are some of the personalities that define me in the Spanish wine of the leaf. In just 20 years, he has established a formidable reputation as a pioneer, who has won praise for his many wines - especially from Spain's most sophisticated regions. Alvaro has been one of the two most active producers in the production and promotion of Spanish wine, especially in the Priorat region. Born into a family with 350 years of history in wine production, Palacios has lived and breathed wine since he was a child, when he finally decided that he would live to work with wine, he sent him to study in Bordeaux. He left school, but not before taking a job with the Moueix family in Pétrus. In Bordeaux, he magically created “two Grands Crus”, and developed a passion for classic European wines. When René Barbier, who worked for Palacios in Rioja, wanted Alvaro to join him on a new project in Priorato, Alvaro did not hesitate to set up on his own. "He was trying to find a place with monastic origins and origins," he said. It was then assembled or project in Priorat. This was in 1989, when he was just 25 years old. Palacios purchased grapes and planted vines to raise the wines that would revive this historic region. Although Barbier was or "defiant", it was Palacios who became Priorat's main voice to the outside world. Les Terrasses "Velles Vignes" is a wine that, as the times have passed, has shown itself to be the true essence that faces the Priorat region A SPECIAL REGION. Based on more than 15 years of study to produce, in other words, Terrasses wine comes from the region that resonates most with me and the oldest wines are protected to avoid the intense afternoon sun. Made with Carignan, Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah grapes, Les Terrasses 2009 displays a wonderful nose of exotic spices, precious fruits and minerals. Offers depth and great potential for growth.

The harvest got off to a great start in autumn, with good rains that filled the water reserves for optimal vegetative development. The winter was characterized by low temperatures and even snow covered some areas of Priorat. March started out wet and cold, which delayed the vine's flowering. By mid-May, flowering was encouraged and was followed by a somewhat unsettled June with several precipitations.
