Monte Branco White 2021

Produced with grape varieties from our best vineyard plots on marble rock soil, this is a deep, complex and extremely balanced wine, where the freshness gives it a long finish and ageing potential. A very exclusive and surprising white.

The 2021 White of the same name is a blend of 40% Arinto, 30% Esgana Cão, 20% Rabigato and 10% Galego Dourado, which fermented and matured in 600-liter barrels for 11 months. It has a very pungent, spicy nose, with a pronounced clove note and a medicinal touch, reminiscent of some unfortified Palomino, with oxidative 'nuances'. The palate is austere, with a very chalky sensation; it is serious, dry and quite light, with 12.3% alcohol content. 2,000 bottles and 500 magnums were produced. The wine was bottled in March 2023.

Luis Louro is the son of Miguel Louro, from Quinta do Mouro. He created Adega Monte Branco in 2004, in Estremoz, after two years buying land, planting and acquiring vineyards. He does not use herbicides and has increasingly focused on local grape varieties. He works a total of 28 hectares divided into five plots, all in Estremoz, the oldest of which was planted in 1993.
