93 Vinogrande points (personal rating)

The 2016 Ovelha Negra Red Wine displays a deep ruby color in the glass, with violet reflections on the rim. On the nose, it reveals a seductive aromatic explosion of ripe fruits, such as blackberry and black cherry, complemented by subtle notes of spice and vanilla from the oak aging.

In the mouth, it is a full-bodied and enveloping wine, with soft, well-integrated tannins. The fruity flavors continue to dominate, now accompanied by nuances of chocolate and touches of coffee, giving it a notable complexity. The acidity is balanced, providing freshness and structure to the whole.

The finish is long and persistent, leaving a pleasant sensation of ripe fruit and spices.

Review:

Ovelha Negra 2016 is a wine that stands out for its concentration and harmony. The vintage shown in this example reveals fantastic maturity of the grapes, resulting in a rich and deep fruity expression. The influence of oak is well dosed, contributing elegance and complexity without overpowering the natural aromas.

This wine is ready for consumption, but also has aging potential for a few years, thanks to its well-defined structure and silky tannins.

I give 93 points to Ovelha Negra 2016 for standing out as an excellent representative of Alentejo red wines, offering a sophisticated and captivating sensory experience. A wine that will certainly please both the most demanding wine drinkers and beginners.
