Description
Pio Cesare Barbaresco DOCG 2022 is a classic, very elegant Italian red, made entirely from Nebbiolo in the prestigious Piedmont region.
This vintage stands out as one of the most approachable and easiest to drink young compared with previous years, while keeping excellent structure and great ageing potential.

With its traditional black, white and gold presentation, the Pio Cesare 2022 Barbaresco clearly shows a slightly ripe profile, marked by intense aromas of cherry and Marasca cherry. This fruitier approach works very well, with earthy notes, sweet spice and a subtle touch recalling rusty iron.
On the palate the wine keeps good tension and shows the richness typical of Nebbiolo, finishing with extra structure and very well-balanced freshness.
The wine ages for 30 months in wood, mainly in large oak casks, with some use of neutral barrels.
The grapes come from four family-owned plots in Treiso — Il Bricco, San Stefanetto and Bongiovanni — and in Alba, the Rocche di Massalupo plot. Most come from Il Bricco, a vineyard known for its limestone-rich soils and very elegant wines.
