It is something like the democratization of luxury. As long as we understand luxury as the most carefully crafted wines from the best and oldest vineyards. A style crafted with great skill by Benjamín Romeo, owner of Bodegas Contador, who has brought to the market memorable vintages of Contador, La Cueva de Contador and a few other brands.

Predicador 2017 shows abundant red fruit, spicy notes, hints of the finest woods and a remarkable balsamic freshness. On this occasion, it seems designed to come close to the house’s greatest creations, displaying the depth and maturity that the vintage gives it. The warm end of the growing cycle is responsible for some slightly prominent alcohol particles, giving it a more Mediterranean than Atlantic character.

The label reproduces the peculiar hat of a gunman who ends his days as a preacher, a character played in one of his films by Clint Eastwood. The most pleasant surprise ends with this story (the bottle, not the one from the feature film). A wine, one could say that the price is not exaggerated, that it is long, intense and tremendously expressive. The very cinematic dress allows its author to qualify it as a red film. A statement that is a little closer to being all-true every year.
