Description

The crown jewel. Its freshness and minerality make it appetising young, but it can age for decades.

Grapes: Traditional Port grapes — mainly Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca, with a little Sousão from the oldest terraces.

Tasting Note: A beautiful, very dark violet colour and strong aromatic intensity. A complex nose of black fruit, florals and spice. On the palate it keeps all its intensity without losing any energy or freshness. Well structured, like any classic vintage, it will certainly develop in bottle for several decades, but it's so rich and seductive that it's hard to resist opening it young.

Winemaking: Trodden by foot in granite lagares for 3 or 4 nights, with careful temperature control. Aged in oak vats for 24 months before bottling.
