Quinta do Pessegueiro was acquired in the mid-1980s by Frenchman Roger Zannier.
Today, winemaker João Nicolau de Almeida, grandson of Fernando Nicolau de Almeida, creator of Barca Velha, is responsible for producing its wines. Facing west, at an altitude ranging from 197 to 355 metres, Quinta do Pessegueiro has 8.84 hectares of vineyards, most of which were planted around 35 years ago, with some old vines over 110 years old. For Roger Zannier, “the aim is to make one of the best Douro wines here”.
Light red color, balsamic aromas, some apricot and cherry. In the mouth it is delicate, fresh with notes of leather. A very elegant wine. (2018)
Very open in color, suggesting a very gentle extraction and little maceration of the skins. The aroma is delicate in the fruit and without evidence of either wood or excess vegetal notes. Clear, elegant, direct. Light on the palate, hidden tannins, good acidity allowing for an excellent tasting. (2021)
