Susana Esteban is one of the winemakers in Portugal who has won the most awards. Her brilliant creations remain in our memories and her partnerships reveal the best that is being done in the world of Portuguese wines.
He began his journey in 1999 and it was in 2011 that he established his project in Alentejo, when he acquired his first vineyard plots.
In 2012, she was awarded the most prestigious prize that a winemaker can receive in Portugal, the title of “Winemaker of the Year”, by Revista de Vinhos, and to date she has been the only woman to have been awarded this distinction.
The Foudre 2022 is a masterpiece resulting from a collaboration with Brazilian critic Jorge Lucki, celebrating the unique terroir of the Serra de São Mamede. The grapes come from an ancient vineyard, 80 years old, located at an altitude of 700 meters, giving the wine a unique identity marked by freshness. This wine was carefully vinified and aged for 16 months in a 1500-liter Alsatian foudre, whose tradition and history have contributed to its distinctive character.
On the nose, it presents a rare sophistication, exuding fine and deeply elegant aromas. The balance is almost transcendent, evoking the golden ratio, while the palate reveals a crystalline and immaculate texture. Its gustatory fullness is accompanied by a vibrant succulence and a minerality that gives it a unique energy.
The finish is endless, enchanting the senses and leaving an indelible mark on the memory. This is an exciting wine, which not only impresses with its technical perfection, but also with its ability to transcend the senses and connect those who taste it to an almost ethereal experience.
A wine that is a celebration of tradition, land and winemaking art in its purest form.
