Description
Wild Turkey 101 is an icon of American bourbon, made in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, and bottled at 101 proof, or 50.5%. The distillery uses barrels with the heaviest char, known as alligator char, and a rye-rich recipe, giving a full, spicy bourbon of great character. Jimmy Russell, the legendary master distiller, has worked there since 1954.
Matured in new charred American oak and bottled at 50.5%, it shows caramel, vanilla, orange and pepper on the nose. The palate is lively and intense, with toffee, honey, spicy rye and cinnamon. The finish is long, with spice, oak and caramel.
Excellent neat, over a single ice cube or as the base of an Old Fashioned or a Manhattan. It pairs with smoked ribs, burgers, pecan pie and caramel desserts.
