Balvenie 16 Anos Triple Cask

The new Balvenie special edition is, as the name suggests, matured in three different types of cask: first a traditional cask to mature and soften the whisky without dominating its flavour; then a cask previously used to age Bourbon, adding vanilla and coconut flavours; and finally a third cask previously used to age Sherry, which gives the whisky dried-fruit flavours. After maturing in these three casks, the whisky is combined in a large tun, called a "marrying tun", for about six months so the whiskies "get to know" one another, resulting in an elegant expression with a unique personality.
