• Ex-bourbon: American oak that first aged bourbon (US law requires new casks for bourbon, so many are available second-hand); they tend to give vanilla, coconut and caramel.
• Madeira: casks that held Madeira wine.
A finish is a final period of maturation in a second cask.

A 700 ml bottle gives about 17 measures of 4 cl. Once opened, store it upright, tightly closed and away from light and heat: spirits keep well for months but slowly lose aroma once the bottle is half empty.

Description
Penderyn 12 Year Old is one of the age-stated whiskies from the Welsh distillery that revived the tradition of Wales. The very aromatic spirit of the Faraday still matures for twelve years in oak, including bourbon and wine casks, and is bottled at 46%, showing how the Welsh style gains depth with time.
Matured for 12 years in bourbon casks and Madeira casks and bottled at 46%, it shows tropical fruit, vanilla, caramel and orange on the nose. The palate is creamy, with honey, toffee, red berries and spice. The finish is long, with vanilla, spice and oak.
Balanced and complex, it works as well for a relaxed evening as for a special dinner. Serve neat or with a drop of water. It pairs with roast meats, mushrooms, nuts and hard cheeses.
