Baga Friends Tinto 2015

Baga Friends Tinto 2015 is an exclusive limited-edition red from Bairrada, made from 100% Baga. This special project was born in 2010 when seven renowned producers from the region joined forces to preserve, defend and promote the identity of this native grape. Each of the seven producers contributed part of their wine to create an exclusive run of just 1,000 bottles, making this 2015 a real rarity for collectors and wine lovers.

The seven producers behind the blend are: António Rocha (Buçaco Wines) Dirk Niepoort (Niepoort) Filipa Pato (Filipa Pato Wines) François Chasans (Quinta da Vacariça) Luis Pato (Luis Pato Wines) Mário Sérgio Nuno (Quinta das Bágeiras) Paulo Sousa (Vinhos Sidónio de Sousa).

The magic of this wine lies in the fact that the final blend is a true co-creation. Each winemaker vinified their grapes independently, expressing the microclimate and soil of their own sub-region. Then 200 litres from each were brought together, blended and aged in used casks, ensuring the collective signature didn't cancel out the complexity and acid freshness typical of the grape.

It has very diverse aromas: red fruit dominates at first, recalling small Nordic berries, then come redcurrant and blackcurrant, pine and a floral note. Black pepper comes through well on the palate. There's some tannic grip and firm structure, projecting a long wine with acidity gripping the finish.
